Stephen King's IT Remake: Need Your Opinions?
Hey guys or girls what do you think about this regarding the new stephen king IT remake that is set to be released sometime in 2011:
Stephen King’s "It" Remake
Whilst speaking with Creature Corner about his work involved adapting Stephen King’s "Salem’s Lot" into next month’s upcoming mini-series, "The Craft" writer Peter Filardi revealed plans are underway to adapt what many deem as King’s scariest book "It" for television again.
The tale of a group of adults who return to their hometown to fulfil a pact and kill a monster who posed in the form of a clown named Pennywise and was slaughtering kids, has only been adapted once before back in 1990. The two-part tele-movie included such stars as Tim Curry, Annette O’Toole, Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Seth Green and Jonathan Brandis.
Reviews raved about Curry’s performance and the flashback element but the second half with the adults and the ending in which It’s true form was revealed scored a lot of criticism.
Filardi says he has already turned in his outline for the redux to producer Mark Wolper and Warner Bros. Television – "It’s a tricky adaptation to get into two hours, of course they’d like to update it. But we think we have a neat angle. If you remember ['Stuttering Bill' Denbrough] the writer was sort’ve the main character.
But we’re going to take it from Beverly Marsh’s point of view…Here’s this girl in the center of this big ensemble of guys. Going with her point of view is neat, it’ll allow us a little bit of license. I think it could be great too. [Retelling IT is] another cool, more interesting exploration of friendship and time and how we all kind of grow up despite our best efforts not to".
Filardi is also busy adapting Clive Barker’s "The History of the Devil" into a movie for The Sci-Fi Channel – "Going from stage to film we’re really going to be able to open it up and dramatize it. It’s really not so much a horror thing though as it is John Milton meets John Grisham".
Well since the only bright point in the original"IT"was Tim Curry’s performance as Pennywise,I’m actually looking forward to a remake of this movie, because in my opinion they couldn’t screw it up any worse than they did the first time.

I am actually okay with this remake (surprisingly). I did love Tim Curry as Pennywise but they changed a fair bit from the book and not for the better. The only good thing about that ending was that it combines my 2 great fears: clowns and spiders *shudder*.
Beverly’s point of view might be interesting.
Oh and I hope in this remake they again leave out the group sex part, really that was just not cool even in the book.

I am starting to hate the remakes.. honestly… its almost like everyone is running out of ideas !!!! I need a fresh, new creepy story … I like the oldies as the oldies and they can still give me that "feeling" of fear when I watch them (and I watch them over and over)… I remember my nephew thought that "IT" was the scariest thing he had ever seen… and how many little kids REALLY like clowns? But the remake thing is really starting to be annoying.. this is remade and that is remade, and it usually ends up that the remake is nowhere as good as the original…. I will admit I am planning to see "Stepfather" however… it looks quite different from the original (so why didnt they just take the idea and name it something else I ask ? Give credit to the movie…???) anyways, I have yet to see a remake that is better than the original… and if it was bad the first time, then why bother… unless you know for sure it will hit the mark… I can see remaking movies from like the 40’s or 50’s maybe… but some of these remakes are done too soon… sorry to babble but I have been noticing this alot – not only in movies but with sitcoms and such… WHERE ARE YOUR IMAGINATIONS PEOPLE? Maybe I should try selling some of my ideas !!!!
